Having eyelash extensions is one thing, keeping them beautiful for a long time is another. How to make them last not only on the eyes, but also in perfect condition for as long as possible? Just follow these 6 principles!
- No oils
Since the protagonist of perfect durability is mainly a quality adhesive, it is not advisable to sabotage its efforts - oil-based products are its worst enemy. So avoid two-step makeup removers and oil-based eyeliners or pencils. The ideal eye make-up remover is the Lashes PRO eyelash cleansing foam, together with a soft application brush, which, unlike make-up remover pads, does not need to be pressed particularly hard. It perfectly exfoliates and cleanses the eyelashes without compromising the quality of the bond between natural and false eyelashes.
2. Mascara ban
One of the reasons to get eyelash extensions, is that you don't want to handle mascara every day. So why apply it to these new lashes? Because it will behave completely differently on the fans than it does on natural lashes, and it will just unnecessarily clump and weigh down the false ones. Moreover, it will be very difficult to remove it without loosening the joints of the glued-on lashes. If you want an even more striking look, apply a light coat of mascara only to the lower lashes and carefully remove it in the evening with a suitable product.
3. Gentle make-up removal
Even if you don't use shadow or liner, you'll probably have make-up or powder on your lids, which will turn into oily build-up throughout the day due to sweating and sebum production. Make sure you don't skip make-up removal for the sake of your eyelashes, just use a cotton bud or an application brush instead of a cotton swab. In addition to the classic ear sticks, you can also find cosmetic sticks with a wider end in drugstores.
4. Don't rub your eyelids
With eyelash extensions, you have to accept that you won't be able to wash your eyes in the morning like you used to. If you feel a foreign object in your eye, or if it itches, gently wipe your eye only over the lower eyelid. However, always keep your hands clean and do not touch your eye unnecessarily. Dry wet eyelashes from the shower or swimming pool by gently tapping your fingertips on the closed eyelids or "tapping" with a towel.
5. Sleep and shower carefully
Do you like to sleep on your stomach? There's no need to give up this way of sleeping, but there is a greater risk of wetting your eyelashes and rubbing them against the pillow. Therefore, when falling asleep, choose the side position or any other position that is comfortable for you. In the shower, do not apply too strong a stream of hot water to the lashes, which could loosen or weaken the joints. Heat and steam in general can disrupt the bond between artificial and natural lashes, so avoid frequent visits to the sauna and steam.
6. Cleaning and care
As I wrote above, grease collects on the lid, often mixed with make-up. However, it also forms there even if you don't use make-up or powder; it is a completely natural process of our skin. Normally, we remove this grease by washing our eyelids every day, especially in the morning. With eyelash extensions, however, hygiene is more difficult because you cannot wash your eyes, but it is still possible to keep your eyelids and eyelashes clean. Keep a special eyelash foam on hand to gently remove oil and dirt, even with a brush or brush. If you don't have foam, you can also use a foaming shampoo or face wash. Don't forget to gently brush your lashes regularly to keep them fluffy and free of clumps.
Are you afraid that washing your eyelashes regularly will make them fall out faster? Don't. By washing away the weight and sebum, you'll prolong their life. But still, just like makeup removal, the process should be gentle and careful, also to prevent the foam from getting into your eyes.
Keep in mind that even with perfect care, 1-5 natural lashes fall out every day, so some loss is never completely avoidable. Extra bold and thick lashes can have a greater tendency to come loose compared to fine ones. Special care should be taken especially during the summer months when you can ensure the durability of your false eyelashes by using the UV Lash System.
