Many aspiring stylists often ask me where they can further improve their skills. Then, women who are just considering a professional career as an eyelash stylist sometimes ask me which beginner course to choose. If you are also attracted to this world, I have a few tips to help you choose a good course and trainer.
I've been an eyelash stylist for over five years. Before that, I studied, had some part-time jobs, but my dream was to work in the beauty industry. I didn't finish cosmetology school for health reasons. Applying false eyelashes seemed like a good alternative, but since I didn't know anyone in the industry, I had no idea what course to choose. Moreover, as a student at the time, I didn't have much money, so I chose between affordable courses. Partly because of my financial situation, I took several courses that I had a bad experience with.
Still, after taking a few courses, I spent the next two months learning how to apply classic false eyelashes on my friends, and at the age of nineteen I started my own business in this field. Because I know how challenging the journey to this dream can be, I decided to share my experience and tips to help you choose a course.

A low quality false lash application course vs. a good one
In retrospect, the very first course I attended was poorly run. The trainer didn't really teach us anything during the one-day course. Not only did she give us little theoretical knowledge, but the practical part was also very poorly organised. Each of the participants only tried the application itself for about two hours during the course, which is insufficient. The second course on volumizing eyelashes was also improperly conducted, with the trainer telling us that it was okay if the fans were asymmetrical. The opposite was true.
Only after that did I start to see an improvement in this respect, so all the following courses were conducted at a high level. The trainers even taught me the mistakes in extensions that I had picked up in the previous ones, and they moved me forward in my career the most. Of course, their highly professional approach to the participants was also a highlight.
How to choose a false lash application course
When making a selection, I always look at the work of the trainer in question first and ask myself the following questions:
- Does she apply false eyelashes precisely?
- Does she really care about doing the best job possible?
- Does she know what lashes and their shape suit each customer best?
- In addition to quality work, does she have enough reviews from satisfied clients?
If you can answer yes to all the questions, you can be almost certain that you won't regret attending the course. Otherwise, I would take caution and avoided the course. For example, a trainer who doesn't continue her education, gives a one-day beginner's course or teaches both classic and volumizing lash application in one day is probably not a true professional.
If you are still not sure what course to choose, you can take one of mine:
- The two-day Eyelash Extensions Basics course for beginners (lash to lash),
- two-day Stay TRENDING! course (eyeliner effect, Wispy, Kim K, wet effect, colored lashes, Anime)
and more.
