False Lashes That Hold - 5 Rules For Using Glue

That's enough - not like that! If there's one thing that can make my blood run cold when I'm working, it's when my time and effort in the salon doesn't leave a breathtaking result on the client's eyes for a good while. How can that happen? There can be several causes, but the móst important thing is having reliable adhesive. How can you make sure that your false eyelashes will stay in place for up to 7 weeks? Just follow these 5 principles for working with glue.

Lepidlo na řasy - vyberte si to správné

It happened to me too that after 14 days a lady came back for a refill of false eyelashes and there was nothing to refill - I could refit everything. The fault was not the wrong choice of fans, the lack of care on the part of the client, or poorly cleaning and degreasing of the lashes before the extension. It was the glue that betrayed me. And that's a big problem.

I've tried several brands with varying degrees of satisfaction, and while all adhesives are basically the same, each has its own specifics. Now I've got my hands on a Lashes PRO glue that I worked with in the testing phase myself, and I'm sure that I will happily stick with it for a while.

But will it suit your work too? Let's take a look.

It's not only about the glue, it's also about the technique

Whether your false eyelashes will stick doesn't just depend on the glue, but also on how you know how to work with it. I mentioned that each glue has its own specifics - they vary from density to hardening time, but not every manufacturer will tell you everything you need to know about them.

However, if you know what a particular adhesive needs and what to expect from it - you're halfway there. Just follow the instructions for perfect results!

5 principles for working with eyelash glue

The following lines relate specifically to working with Lashes PRO adhesive and following these points will ensure perfect retention for up to 4-7 weeks. Ready? Let's glue!

1. Shake the glue thoroughly before opening.

Every glue, regardless of manufacturer, needs to be shaken thoroughly before working and this is no different. This step helps to bond all the ingredients contained. This is the only way the adhesive will work properly.

Don't be afraid to do a test. Properly mixed glue has a perfectly pigmented, deep black color. If, after applying to a sticker, the drop is partially transparent, grey or you observe the blending of multiple shades of grey, do not use this drop for lash application.

Seal the glue well and shake again until the glue drop is black as night when applied to the film.

I recommend shaking the Lashes PRO glue with a shaker for about 1.5 minutes. If you don't have a glue shaker, 3-5 minutes of hand shaking should do the trick, 5-10 minutes are a guarantee.

From my experience: Keep in mind that even the most amazing glue doesn't make up for really thoroughly prepping your lashes before extensions. Nothing will ever stick to your oily and dirty lashes. Thoroughly cleaning the lashes is simply the foundation for a strong, long-lasting bond.

  • Clean your natural lashes with Lashes PRO cleansing foam, rinse with water and dry, then repeat the process, maybe even twice, until your lashes are perfectly clean and free of make-up residue.
  • The next important step is to degrease the lashes with the Lashes PRO Primer . Apply Lashes PRO with the Lashes PRO micro-brush to the roots of the lashes on both sides of each natural lash. Don't neglect any step and give each step plenty of care and time.

2. Apply a drop of glue to the prepared adhesive film.

A proper surface will help keep the glue drop fresh longer and it will promote ideal conditions for it to last. In this case, the Lashes PRO adhesive sticker on a glass crystal mat works best. The Lashes PRO glue drop will stay perfectly fresh for about 1-1.5 hours while working.

Do not expect a dome here. Yes, we've all read or heard somewhere that a drop of glue must create a typical "dome" on the working surface. Because of the lower viscosity, a drop of Lashes PRO adhesive will not create a typical dome on the film. But beware - this has no effect on the function of the adhesive or its durability! Tested and confirmed in practice.

Practice Tip: Before you apply a drop for dipping false eyelashes on the pad, drip approx. 5 small drops aside. This ensures a really fresh, properly mixed drop for your work.

3. Using tweezers, grasp the eyelash or fan and drag it through a drop of glue.

The correct method of applying the adhesive to the false lashes.

Not enough glue as well as too much glue can cause the false lashes to not stick properly to the natural ones, the glue can get on surrounding lashes and overall, you will face similar inconveniences. Lashes PRO glue has thin consistency, so it applies nicely and spreads evenly in a thinner layer over the false lash.

With the ready-made Lashes PRO volumizing eyelash fans, the length of the leg is an indicator when dipping into the glue. We make sure it's "just right" during the manufacturing process. So, in short, don't dip more than the fan joint allows and you'll get the perfect result.

4. Apply the false eyelash to the natural eyelash and let the glue harden.

Remember that the false eyelash or the fan should be as close to the eyelid as possible, but never touching it. Once the false lashes have adhered to the natural lashes, it takes 1-2 seconds for the glue to set.

Listen carefully, because this is important! If the relative humidity in the room is too high or low, the glue will not work properly. In one case, it will shock polymerize, i.e. harden, and thus reduce adhesion to the natural eyelash, in the other case, the setting time of the glue will be prolonged and the client will also have poor retention.

So what should you watch out for?

  •     The recommended relative humidity when working with glue is 45%, with an acceptable RH range of 40% to 60%. So keep an eye on the ambient humidity level in your salon, purchase a hygrometer and use a humidifier or, conversely, a moisture absorber as needed to ensure ideal working conditions.
  •     The recommended room temperature when working with glue is 23°C, which is a comfortable condition for being in the salon in general. However, in winter and summer, the temperature can drop or rise despite your best efforts, so the acceptable temperature range - when the glue will still work as it should - is between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius.

5. Take proper care of the glue.

In my early days, I ignored this, thinking it wasn't important. BIG mistake!

You may get fairy tale glue right out of the gate the first time you open it, but if you store it incorrectly, you may have reduced retention on the very next application and your tenth client will be calling you a week later saying she feels like a Christmas tree in the middle of January. And this applies to all adhesives without exception.

Also beware of nozzle clogging. Check it after use and if necessary, squeeze excess glue out of the nozzle mouth into a wipe to keep the passage clear. Try to get all the air out of the package before sealing.

Store unopened glue in a cool, dry, dark place. Preferably in the refrigerator in a sealed container, standing upside down. Check the shelf life of the glue before opening it. Expired glue never does you any good and won't stick.

Let the glue acclimate at room temperature for about a day before using it for the first time, and once opened, never store it in the refrigerator again. For one thing, it wouldn't do it any good, and then you probably don't want to accidentally mix the glue into your lunch. In any case, always store it in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. And don't wait long after opening and try to use up the glue within 30 days.

Now you have a tested product in front of you with detailed instructions on how to use it and a promise of retention for 3-7 weeks. It's up to you. Lashes PRO glue, like other glues, evaporates vapors (medium volatile), so be mindful of your health and wear a mask or respirator when testing it.
