As soon as you walk out, you feel that you should have decided differently today. It might be a thousand degrees outside and it looks like you're losing the battle with the heat 0:1 so far. No! No! No! No! Just NO this summer. No more smudgy mascara or runny makeup. This time you'll be ready for the heat, because I've prepared an article on appropriate summer (not only) eye makeup. It will take you barely 5 minutes to read it, so go for it!

On warm days, we opt for lightweight outfits and so should be the case with makeup. That's why, together, we'll dive into a few tips that will tell you which direction to take in summer so that you always look goddess-perfect

About lashes

The topic closest to my heart is, of course, eyes and eyelashes. Like most women, I've been using mascara to highlight my eyes since I was a teenager.

But you know from experience that it melts in the heat, smears around the eyes and stains your eyelids. Looking in the mirror, you don't look like a hot chick, you look like a sweaty panda. For that reason alone, it's time to consider applying false false eyelashes to save you from this.

By the way - I discuss the options for eyelash enhancement as well as their pros and cons in my article A Guide to the World of Lashes.

My experience: 'When I started with false eyelashes, a whole new world opened up for me. I no longer had to worry about looking in the mirror every morning. On the contrary, I started to enjoy it - even in the morning. I just look hot! Another plus was that the stress of walking around outside with unbelievably blurry eyes in the summer months was gone. Since then, I've been able to enjoy water sports without worrying about my appearance."

So if you're considering false eyelashes, whether just for summer or year-round, you have my blessing. You'll save yourself a lot of nerves, and enjoy the warm days all the more.

The downside of eyeshadow

The same problem as with mascara unfortunately occurs with eyeshadow. If you use it for makeup, you know how it can be a pain in the summer - it can smudge, lose intensity, "run" into the crease of the eyelid - in short, it can be a disaster.

Don't leave anything to chance and use a base under your eyeshadow. Thanks to it, the eyeshadow will

  •     last longer,
  •     blend and unify its color,
  •     you'll more easily achieve the perfect smoky eye,
  •     avoid smudges, fallout, smudges and unsightly spots.

The choice of color is of course up to you, but in general, fresh shades of pink, gold or bronze are perfect for summer.

Go for lighter shades even if you want to achieve a smoky eye effect. The classic black ones are too much for summer. Go for shades of brown instead, which look really great!

Finally, a word of advice about eyeliner: If you normally use it and are going for false eyelashes, you can skip this eye-enhancing tool altogether. Eyeliner would smudge unnecessarily in the summer, and the extra lashes will easily make up for it.

What about the skin?

Say goodbye to runny make-up and shiny skin. Here are a few quick tips on how to deal with your skin in summer:

  •    Avoid thick creams or oils that put unnecessary strain on your skin.
  •    Under make-up, use a base to mattify and unify the skin.
  •    Reach for lighter make-up or BB cream with an SPF factor that will both unify and protect your skin from the sun.
  •    Use bronzer sparingly. You don't want to get so shiny that you dazzle passers-by in the sun.
  •    Everything is lighter in the summer, so keep that in mind when applying blush. Here, a really light touch of a matching shade is all you need.

Think of the lips too

Just like with your skin, it's the same with your lips - don't use thick, oily lipsticks. Lips need much more hydration and freshness in summer. Balms or lip glosses are a great partner to soften and nourish your lips at the same time.

My advice: The golden rule of cosmetics is "bold lips or bold eyes". So if you're reaching for long, voluminous lashes, go easy on the lipstick or lip gloss. And not only in summer.

We're all used to different makeup looks, but it's important to adapt to seasonal conditions. So keep these few tips in mind and maintain your 100% natural beauty.
